Frequently Asked Questions - Content

Below are common questions we are asked about web site content. If you require more information, please feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help.

What should I include in my web site?

This will vary from company to company. It is important that you give your potential customers enough information about your business - how to contact you (as many ways as possible), who to contact, what you do, what you sell, where to find you - statistics show that the majority of internet surfers wish that web sites would contain more information and less 'fluff'.

How should I write my site text?

Copy writing is quite an art, but following a few solid rules can be quite productive. Do not use 'corporate speak' and be informative as strong content sells. If your project includes search engine promotion, we'll re-write your copy using the key phrases that we've researched for you, and create a site that not only reads well to humans, but also looks good to search engines.

Are there any size limits to the files I can use in my site?

No. If your site utilizes large files (such as music downloads), we simply provide you with more than adequate web space and bandwidth to cover this.

Can we have a Flash animated intro page?

Yes, but understand Flash limitations. These pages could take a long time to load, especially for people with 56k modems. Visitors will not necessarily be impressed with excessive eye candy especially if they look for specific information. Search engines cannot read Flash animation, so your vital homepage is almost invisible to them. We suggest using Flash in small doses - it can be very effective if used carefully.

I hear that a Gateway/doorway page will increase my search engine ranking?

Absolutely not. Gateway pages (a page that appears before your home page that has been designed only for the sake of a search engine), are now considered spam by most search engines - they simply do not work, and may lead to a ban. It is far more important to produce a web site with quality, key word rich content.
